ACT 73: Job

I was already up at 4.25am probably due to the excitement that I feel regarding the job. So, I decided to get ready and I think the most complicated thing to do is gelling my hair as the last time I gelled my hair was about a few years ago. After getting ready and having my breakfast, I proceeded to the bus-stop where Yan Hong and I agreed to meet. I reached there at 5.20am and waited for Yan Hong to arrive. What was unexpected was that Yan Hong arrived at 5.38am ( late by 8 minutes) and her reason for being late was that her mother wanted her to drink milo before leaving. While we waited for the bus to come, Yan Hong called Jin Kai's phone intentionally to get revenge on him. The revenge plan was a success but Jin Kai mistaken me as the mastermind. I decided not to explain myself to him as I think it will only bring in more troubles. So we proceeded on our journey and on the way at Lakeside MRT station, we rendezvous with Kah Shin. The journey goes on and we reached the Pan Pacific Hotel at about 6.45am. I took only 7 minutes to get changed as I was wearing the pants and shoes to the hotel whereas Yan Hong and Kah Shin had to redress entirely.

Work started at 7.00am and I was send to the DEL section. That section was part of the serving section. I was assigned as the coffee and tea boy, thus I had to ask the customers if they would like to have more coffee or tea. What I did not expect was that I had to carry the two jugs for 2hour 30 minutes. After which I was also assigned to clear plates. Clearing plates were quite simple except for that the person clearing the tray ( which contains many dirty cutlets, plates and cups). I was assigned to clear the tray twice. After that Voice told me a way to make my job easier, by clearing the items before the tray is even half full. Doing this makes me looks as though I am busy and also I do not have to serve the customers. But later on, I was in charge of setting up the tables for lunch and it was quite difficult. After setting up, I went to have lunch. Although the foods there were normal daily food, they were delicious. The break was 30 minutes, but I still had much spare time due to my eating speed.

Work continued and I was serving the customers before using the cheat method to empty the tray again. Serving lunch was easier than breakfast as it lasted for a shorter period of time. After lunch, we had to set the tables again ( but I am not sure if the settings are for dinner or next day's breakfast) While there were still some time left before it's time to knock off, I learned how to fold the napkins.

A while later, we were called for a meeting. We were told to line up in a straight line facing the manager. The manager than told us that some of our male's hair were too long and not gelled up while the female's hair were not clipped properly and there were no make-up. The manager then told us that we were hired to serve customers and not to chit chat. The manager also told us that he hired humans ( us) to serve customers and not robots, thus we had to smile to the customers. That sentence almost made me gave out my laughter.

Overall, I learned working is not easy as compared to Industrial-Attachment. Perhaps this job might also let me have more test samples to enhance my sociability.
